I'm a freelance writer doing a feature article on independent public schools. It's not a hard-hitting article but I was intrigued by your 2009 post on the subject, as obviously from the Education Dept and the principal that I spoke to, I am getting the standard political lines. Would you be willing to speak to me about the potential pitfalls you've raised, or do you know somebody who would be?
My email address is georgina.ker at gmail dot com - unfortunately my deadline is fast approaching, on Monday, and I only just found this blog!
Thank you for asking - I'd love to, but quoting to media is a big no-no in the department - having a young family I need a job and at times my little blog (although a great way to let off steam) could get me in trouble!! I'm afraid something similar will be your standard response. A better idea might be to approach the school teachers union and view their media releases on the topic, although I'm not a member (for philosophical reasons mainly) - we do seem to share similar views on this topic.
